KUALA LUMPUR: A textile company is suing a model for RM15 million after she allegedly defamed the company.

Gulati's Exclusive Sdn Bhd filed the defamation suit against Zahnita Dorothy Hussein Wilson on Feb 5, two months after the model filed a RM2 million suit against the company for allegedly using her pictures on its posters and advertisements without her permission.

In the company's statement of claim, it stated that Zahnita had defamed the company in several paragraphs of her statement of claim.

Gulati's also claimed that Zahnita had allegedly defamed it in the statements she had made to the press after she filed the suit.

Gulati's also claimed that Zahnita's alleged defamatory statements tarnished its business reputation.

High Court deputy registrar Norhatini Abd Hamid yesterday fixed Oct 8 for case management.

Zahnita had filed the suit against Gulati's on Dec 11 last year claiming that she suffered a huge loss when another textile company Syarikat Jakel Trading cancelled its project with her.

Zahnita's suit had been fixed for case management on Aug 17.
